How we do it !
THE NO DUMPING ECOSYSTEM
We work only with willing and like-minded people and communities, providing them practical solutions to segregate at source and manage their waste. Residents belonging to organized and environmentally conscious communities, those willing to take full responsibility of the waste they generate, adopt and follow our 4 core practices after we conduct for them, Habit Orientation Workshops (HOW) to bring about a shift in their age old habits of dumping mixed waste.
The housekeeping staff employed by the residential welfare association collects the waste in bins and bags segregated by residents as per the 2 bins, 1 bag system prescribed by No Dumping. They use customized pushcarts with separate provisions for wet, dry and sanitary waste and place them at a designated collection point in the apartment complex.
Truck Taxi (our transportation partner) sends separate trucks for wet and dry waste to apartments daily at an appointed time for the housekeeping staff to unload the waste bins and bags into the respective vehicle’s container. Our dedicated logistics team takes care of the systematic collection of segregated waste from apartments. All raw organic wet waste is sent for vermicomposting, bio composting and to produce bio gas to fuel a crematorium. We also give the wet waste directly to marginal farmers for mulching and manurial purposes.
All dry waste is sent to our Material Recovery Facilities in Vellalore and Kavundampalayam for another level of segregation. Recyclable raw materials are sent to recyclers and processors to manufacture new products. Inorganic, non-recyclable and combustible waste is sent to the ACC cement factory to be used as Alternative Fuel Resource (AFR).
Volunteers from the beneficiary community, the respective residential welfare association and NGO’s facilitate the continuity of this process in their localities. The monthly cost of collection and transportation of waste is borne by the people living in the apartments. The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation as the urban local body extends its support to the No Dumping initiative to achieve the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
We also offer our waste collection, segregation and management services to the Airports Authority of India, Coimbatore. We have a designated waste collection point in the airport complex from where the segregated waste follows the same path as the one we have mentioned above. Our office co-ordinates the logistics with the communities and a dedicated call centre number caters to all customer enquiries.
